Silverton’s first district Court was held on 1 June 1887. The Courthouse and attached Warden’s Residence was built in 1889. After serving the community for a relatively short time, this magnificent building was reopened on 10 April 1948 as the Silverton War Memorial Youth Camp and is still in use today.

The “Youth Camp” offers dormitory style accommodation and is available for hire.

The building sleeps 44 and has fully compliant disabled access and bathroom, compliant industrial kitchen, male and female bathrooms, large hall for dining or activities, reverse cycle air conditioning throughout, TV room, full teleconferencing facilities and internet technology, laundry facilities and BBQ area.

Pricing and Hire Agreement

Daily Hire
Ideal for weddings, parties, functions, meetings, etc. Daily hire without accommodation is as follows:
Hall only – $150
Kitchen & Hall – $350 per day

Overnight Stays
Bunk Rooms – $35 per head per night
Camping – $15 per head per night (including shower)


  • Minimum number of guests is 15. 
  • Cleaning fee to be confirmed with each booking. 
  • A deposit of $100 is required upon booking.

The payment of a deposit by the hirer constitutes an agreement to hire the use of the facilities from the campsite.
Payment – Full payment is required 5 days prior to arrival at the campsite. If necessary, any additional expenses incurred such as breakages will be invoiced to the hirer and payment is requested within 7 days.
Liability – The Silverton Village Committee Inc., managers of the Silverton War Memorial Youth Camp and its agents & employees do not accept liability for loss of property, damages or personal injury arising from the use of the facilities. The hirer is responsible for ensuring that they have appropriate public liability insurance for their group.
Cancellations – Refunds of deposits will only be given for cancellations made 90 days in advance of the camp date. Groups cancelling with less than 30 days notice to the campsite are liable for full payment of the first night. In the event of a cancellation by the campsite, the hirer shall be entitled to a full refund of monies paid.
Privacy Act – The campsite give assurance that any personal information including gathered by the campsite or provided by the group leader will remain confidential and only be used for the purpose of which it was collected.
