What a history this building has. The Gaol Museum’s huge collection houses exhibits, artefacts and memorabilia from Silverton, Broken Hill and their surrounding areas. Just some of these exhibits include:
- From Indigenous artefacts and tools to early settlement pastoral equipment.
- The gaol’s original medical room and tools.
- Mining heritage artefacts.
- Memorabilia of past institutions e.g. Silverton Tramway.
- Memorabilia of musical organisations, and famous local singer made good — June Bronhill.
- Recreational activities from women’s football to picture theatres.
Built in 1889, Silverton Gaol has been developed into one of the most valued heritage museums in NSW and Australia.
